Sustainability for the spice sector

Sustainability is no longer optional in the global spice industry; it is a necessity. Building a responsible, transparent, and future-ready supply chain has become a key priority across the sector.

Since last year, we have been members of the Sustainable Spices Initiative (SSI), reinforcing our commitment to driving meaningful transformation.

What is the Sustainable Spices Initiative (SSI)?

The Sustainable Spices Initiative is a global platform that promotes sustainability in the spice sector through collaboration between companies and key stakeholders. Through dedicated working groups, it defines shared goals and develops tools, policies, and practical approaches to support more responsible production.

SSI also fosters knowledge sharing and best practices among its members, while encouraging demand for sustainable spices through engagement across the value chain. In addition, it supports projects at origin, contributes to farmer professionalization, and enables benchmarking across existing standards to enhance transparency.

Our role as SSI members

Since joining, we have been actively participating in SSI working groups. This involvement helps us stay aligned with international best practices while contributing to the development of sustainable solutions within industry.

ESG strategy and key achievements

A solid ESG strategy has been developed in line with international standards, ensuring responsible and transparent operations.

From an environmental perspective, the carbon footprint (Scopes 1, 2, and 3) has been calculated, alongside the implementation of energy efficiency measures such as process optimization and the use of 100% renewable energy. Collaboration with suppliers is ongoing to reduce environmental impact at the origin.

Across the supply chain, all suppliers have been assessed under sustainability criteria. Progress continues in ESG certifications and origin projects that support farmers in adopting more sustainable practices.

Commitment is further reinforced through external audits, ethical policies, ESG evaluations, and active participation in industry initiatives such as SSI.

Looking ahead

The focus remains on advancing toward a more sustainable, traceable, and responsible supply chain, creating value alongside customers, suppliers, and communities.

Our goal is clear: to contribute actively to a more sustainable and future-ready spice industry.
